Calling all tech or enterprise writers! Clockwork is looking for a Copywriter with consumer tech, enterprise tech and B2B writing experience to join our content team. We’re offering the right candidate the opportunity to create longer-form content for a variety of our tech clients – although you’ll also need to be comfortable writing shorter pieces for online platforms and social media.
The successful candidate needs outstanding copywriting skills, with a proven track record of producing insightful, research-based writing in a variety of formats. Specific experience writing tech or enterprise content will be a plus.

This is a full-time position based in Johannesburg working in a content team with like-minded individuals (although we sometimes disagree about which social media platform is the best).

Reporting to: Content lead
- Create original copy that is accurate, insightful and grammatically correct and meets client goals
- Become familiar with clients’ products and services, target audiences, and competitors’ activities
- Conduct interviews with clients to inform content creation
- Amend, revise and rewrite in response to feedback from the account team, creative team, or clients
- Assist with the development of content strategies
- Adhere to strict briefs and deadlines
- Research quickly and efficiently and translate your research into copy on a wide range of subjects
- Critically analyse and interrogate information presented to you
- Understand basic stats, figures and graphs and use them to support an argument
Working within a team
- Co-ordinate and discuss copy with the team, bringing a high degree of knowledge and experience
- Work seamlessly and efficiently with team leads, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Ensure timely responses to requests from team members on all deliverables.
- Manage and follow up on delegated deliverables
- Three to five years of experience in long form copywriting in the tech and B2B industries
- Proven experience as a Copywriter or in a similar writing role
- Verifiable degrees and diplomas
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
- A comprehensive knowledge of and proven experience of the market and industry
- Maturity and temperament to relate to a wide range of clientele
- Client focused, attention to detail, highly organised
- Ability to think strategically, execute quality work under multiple and competing deadlines and work extra hours as needed
- High level of creativity, inspiration and innovation
- Good interpersonal skills – confidence to present observations or advice to (senior) colleagues
- “Can do” attitude to take ownership and pride in deliverables
- Team player willing to adapt to a fast-paced environment and champion the Clockwork ethos
