JOHANNESBURG – Winnie Madikizela-Mandela said she played no role in the publication of the book Mandela’s Last Years.

She’s denied reports that she gave Dr Vejay Ramlakan permission to pen the book.

Madikizela-Mandela said her autograph in one of the copies is not an endorsement thereof.

Madiba’s former wife said it was a mere courtesy to someone who had cared for the late former state president.

The book has since been withdrawn from retailers.

Penguin Publishers said this was done out of respect for the Mandela family.

Madikizela-Mandela also said she did not commission MK Malefane to say anything on her behalf.
