JOHANNESBURG – Kevin Anderson will go down in history books to become the first South African to go into the Wimbledon finals since Brian Norton in 1921.
Anderson faced off against American John Isner, who was making his Grand Slam semi-final debut on the Centre Court.
“Anderson vs Isner, a Wimbledon classic – you better believe it”
— Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 13, 2018
Isner hasn’t dropped a single serve this entire tournament.
The two were meeting for only the second time in ten years.
They last met at the Queen’s Club Championships.
The match turned out to be an epic one, lasting more than 6 hours, and seeing more than 70 aces served.
During the match against Anderson, Isner broke the Wimbledon record for the most aces served during a Championship.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will battle for Sunday’s final at 4pm.
