Sport24.co.za | Domingo set for new coaching role
Cape Town – Russell Domingo’s tenure as Proteas coach may be a thing of the past, but he reportedly already has a new job lined up.
Domingo’s contract as coach of the South African national team ran out after the recent tour to England, and while reapplied for the role, West Indian Ottis Gibson is the favourite to take over.
Domingo is however the favourite to be named head coach of the Pretoria franchise for the inaugural T20 Global League.
According to Netwerk24, two former Proteas players, Lance Klusener and Neil McKenzie, will be Domingo’s assistants.
Klusener previously coached the Dolphins, while McKenzie has been the Proteas’ batting coach in recent times.
The Pretoria franchise, which is yet to unveil its official name for the tournament, has AB de Villiers as marquee player.
The tournament, which features eight franchises, runs from November 3 to December 16.
